BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
David A. Tucker
The Rev. David A. Tucker serves as Director of Training and Short Term Ministries for SEND
International, located in Farmington, Michigan.
Dave and his wife Kathy graduated in June 1972 from Northeastern Bible College in Essex
Fells, New Jersey. In 1985, he completed a Master of Arts at Columbia International
University in Columbia, South Carolina.
Dave and Kathy became members of the Regions Beyond Missionary Union in 1972, assigned to
a church planting ministry in Indonesia. Arriving on the field, they began work with the
Kayagar tribe of Irian Jaya. During the next five years the Tuckers saw seven village
churches established, a local Bible institute inaugurated and national leaders appointed
within the churches and Bible institute. The Tuckers were later reassigned to establish a
multi-language teaching program using audio cassette tapes. In addition to this
responsibility, Dave served as mission station administrator, was appointed assistant
pastor in an Indonesian church, and taught in the Maranatha Bible Institute.
Two terms in Indonesia were followed by an invitation to serve in the U.S. headquarters of
RBMU International where Dave became Associate Director and Director of Personnel.
Dave and Kathy are now on the staff of SEND International. Dave's primary responsibilities
include oversight of all training activities within the U.S. Office and coordinating the
recruitment, training and sending of short term missionaries to the SEND fields of
service. Kathys desk is in the International Office, where she serves as Administrative
Assistant to Frank Severn, SEND's General Director as well as Robin Pocklington, SEND's
Europe Regional Director.
Dave is a regular visitor and guest lecturer at college campuses and is frequently invited
to speak in churches and at missions conferences. In recent years he has had opportunities
to teach at colleges and seminaries in Bulgaria, Alaska and Ukraine, as well as throughout
the continental United States and Canada. He is a teacher within the Perspectives on the
World Christian Movement program and has recently joined the Council of Reference for
Eastern Michigan Perspectives. In his free time, Dave is a mountain biker, fencer, and
collects edged weapons from around the world.
Dave and Kathy have two daughters: Gwen (Tucker) Heathcock is a graduate of Liberty
University; Kristen (Tucker) McLane graduated from Moody Bible Institute.
The Tuckers live in Westland, Michigan and are active members of Calvary Baptist Church
of Canton, Michigan.
